Research from Hilton HHonors Platinum Visa, compiled in association with Judith Chalmers, reveals a growing new trend to ‘Bleasure Stay’ - combining business and pleasure trips - among UK business travellers.
The research found that one in three UK employees are now inviting partners and families along on their business trip, so they can enjoy a weekend mini-break and quality time together.

According to the research, employees are increasingly trying to combine work and family time rather than dreading the time spent away from their homes and families.The study found that more than half (52%) of the UK workforce is travelling on business more now than they did five years ago, meaning a growing demand to do more than just work on business trips.

The study also found that 82% of British workers felt their personal relationships are being affected by the amount of business travel they were doing, which explains the sudden surge in requests from employees to extend time while on business trips. The study also found that businesses are becoming more sympathetic to employees creating their own ‘Bleasure stays’, with 45% of UK employers involved in the survey reporting that they will support the new trend, as long as it doesn’t interfere with work.
