PATA adds three new members, including Charitable Travel

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) UK & Ireland has added three new members, which include Cape Panwa Hotel in Phuket, Thailand, a luxury hotel group called Santrian Resorts and Villas in Indonesia and a new social enterprise called Charitable Travel, which was launched in April.

The new additions bring the total number of members to 26. PATA organises more than 20 events in all of UK and Ireland every year, and the association?s flagship event, Taste of PATA, is still in the discussion phase and will take place virtually this year.

PATA UK & Ireland Chairman, Chris Crampton said: ?We are delighted to welcome new members, especially during these uncertain times. Now more than ever, it is important to support one another as we navigate a return to business in the age of COVID-19, and it is great to be able to offer our agent members, a growing selection of Asia-Pacific businesses to connect with. Our latest member, Charitable Travel, provides a unique offering which will really excite and benefit our members and their customers, and contribute to sales in the Asia-Pacific region. The social enterprise will also support and raise awareness for different causes in the region. The number of our events has grown significantly over the past five years and we will continue to host more events in future.?

Charitable Travel?s CEO, Melissa Tilling said: "We joined PATA for sharing knowledge, news and information, and create learning opportunities to indicate our commitment to the PATA region; standing with people and places in the region that can benefit from economic support of the charity, and the overall travel trade team. The main focus of Charitable Travel is cause-related marketing; as we want to grow tourism in the region as well as support relevant causes and charities of the region- by bringing topical issues to the attention of our customers and raising money for the UK registered charities which can deliver support to the beneficiaries in the PATA region. We have already run a successful charitable campaign for Cambodia (with Just A Drop) and have an elephant welfare campaign underway, in partnership with The Tourism Authority of Thailand."

Ms Tilling added: ?PATA offers a great platform for engagement with member destinations, tour operators, hoteliers and other commercial suppliers to share our social purpose, and encourage activities with Charitable Travel, to enhance the delivery of our social purpose. The thing that attracted us the most, about the membership benefits, was the interaction with other members; and the fantastic choice of events. We will be joining PATA Exchange, the Indo-china Roadshow, Taste of PATA and the Christmas Lunch which helps raise money for the Family Holiday Association.?
