Intrepid launches National Travel Agent Day UK for July 24

Intrepid Travel, a leading sustainable tour operator, launched the first National Travel Agent Day UK, scheduled to take place on July 24.

Set to take place annually on the last Friday of the UK summer school term, just before the summer holiday exodus, this year Intrepid is asking those supporting National Travel Agent Day UK to share the #NTADUK hashtag on their social media channels on July 24. Travel companies are encouraged to get creative in how they choose to thank agents for their hard work assisting clients around the clock, seven days a week and across international time zones.

?At Intrepid, we feel now more than ever is the time to get behind the travel agent community and show our appreciation for everything they do, especially the difficult challenges COVID-19 has presented,? said Zina Bencheikh, managing director for EMEA at Intrepid Travel. ?We want to officially recognise agents on National Travel Agent Day UK for their hard efforts as frontline workers, dealing with this crisis firsthand and their important role in helping to keep the UK travel industry afloat.?

This year, as part of the launch, Intrepid will host an industry-wide virtual appreciation event on July 24, connecting agents and partners online to mark the occasion. Until now, no such day has officially existed in the UK, unlike in other parts of the world such as North America and Australia.

Bencheikh continued: ?Even when COVID-19 is behind us, we believe National Travel Agent Day UK warrants a permanent place in our national calendar, to serve as a reminder of the crucial role agents play in travel, both during a crisis and getting businesses back on their feet, and as a way of giving travel agencies the recognition so often overlooked by the high street.?
