Discover Egypt has added extra capacity on its Nile cruises for Christmas and the New Year after selling out early.

  The extra festive packages are available for departures on December 20 and 27 for seven-night durations. The standard five-star Beau Soleil is priced at £1,149 per person and the deluxe five-star Hamees costs from £1,364. Both include flights from Gatwick or Manchester (at a supplement of £40 per person), taxes, transfers, full board accommodation plus ten excursions with an Egyptologist.


The company's director, Philip Breckner, said: "Luxor has been starved of direct flights from the UK, especially during the peak winter season and so this is extremely positive news for tour operators easyjet has added twice weekly fights into Luxor starting in November."

Agents still selling out of this period and looking for value winter sun breaks can offer their clients Nile cruises departing on November 29 and December 6 and 13 from £699 and hotel stays in Luxor for £349 per person, based on two adults staying on bed-and-breakfast at the four-star El Luxor. Five-star hotel options such as the Sofitel Karnak start from £399 per person for seven nights including flights and transfers.
