PLAY launches first direct Iceland service from Cardiff

The service will have a limited run of flights between October 10th and November 20th, 2024 between Cardiff and Keflavik.

Tickets for the route have launched today with the inaugural flight taking to the skies on October 10th, 2024. Travellers will fly to direct to Keflavik, a gateway to Iceland’s capital of Reykjavik to explore the lagoons and glaciers, or choose to connect to PLAY’s US destinations of New York Stewart, Boston, Baltimore/Washington and Washington Dulles.

The new service will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays for a six-week period, however flights will adjust to Thursday and Sundays during the first week and Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the final week to accommodate for the two UEFA Nations League matches between Iceland and Wales.

Fares prices lead in from £59 per person one way, with connections to PLAY’s North America hubs leading in from £179 per person one way.

Einar Örn Ólafsson, CEO of PLAY, marvelled at the “milestone service” for PLAY as the route “opens up exciting possibilities for customers wanting to travel to the US and Canada at affordable prices.”
