Lufthansa honours Oktoberfest with Bavarian traditions

To celebrate the famous folk festival Oktoberfest, Lufthansa flight attendants will once again take to the skies in traditional Bavarian costume.

For a long time now, Lufthansa has celebrated the world-famous Oktoberfest, with cabin crew taking to the skies in traditional Bavarian costume. Although the 2020 festival has been cancelled this year, from September 21-25, UK passengers travelling to Munich from Manchester and Birmingham will be able to enjoy local German beer and dishes on board from as little as ?91 return.

In Munich, traditional Bavarian dishes, including Leberk?s' cabbage and potato salad will be available in all Lufthansa lounges, in addition to roasted almonds, pretzel pearls and Oktoberfest beer. Aboard, business class passengers will enjoy a special dish of trout and Bavarian cream throughout September, with Weissbier available on request.

Upon arrival in Terminal 2, passengers will be welcomed by Lufthansa service staff in Dirndl and traditional costume during the entire Wiesn season.

The Dirndl was designed by Munich-local Angermaier and consists of a dark blue dress with a silver and grey apron. Traditionally, men wear leather shorts with a dark blue vest made from the same fabric as the Dirndl.
