A new ship, currently operated by Danish company SunStone, will hit Antarctic shores from October 2025 after major renovations
That has included brand-new engines to deliver greater fuel efficiency, and the renaming of the ship from Ocean Adventurer to Expedition, in tribute to G Adventures' previous expedition vessel, which will be replaced by the new-and-improved 128-guest ship.
Bruce Poon Tip, G Adventures' founder, reflected on Expedition's over 270 dpeartures. "While we all wanted to continue to operate our little red ship, it became apparent that doing so would not be good for the environment, or the business.
"As a company, we are always looking for ways to evolve, improve and lead from the front, so when the opportunity for this new ship presented itself, we knew we had to take it."
Expedition will sail five different Antarctic itineraries from October 2025, hosting at least 14 expedition experts on board for a passenger to expert ratio of fewer than 10:1.
