WTM Virtual: Jordan prepares for a new era of tourism in 2021

At WTM Virtual, the Jordan Tourism Board highlighted how they will be encouraging travellers to visit lesser-known gems in the country, as well as how they are preparing to welcome tourists in the new year.

Managing director of Jordan Tourism Board, Abed Arabiyat, explained how the pandemic has helped the Jordan Tourism Board adapt to approaching future visitors: "We have adapted our strategy to inspire travellers for future holidays. We launched a virtual reality website where you can explore Jordan and immerse yourself in the location." The VR experience can be found at www.vrjordan.com.

"We know people are looking for new things out of travel in 2021 - this includes things like social distancing, contactless services, and smaller groups or bubble tourism. We will be accommodating this for travel next year, when we hope travel will resume. One of the first people we will be welcoming back are the tour operators in the UK, we are very much looking forward to working with them again.", he added.

While Jordan is mostly known for the archaeological city of Petra, the tourist board wants to convince travellers that there is more to the country than just the ancient city. The country is abundant with natural wonders for travellers to explore, including DANA Nature Reserve, Ummayad castles and the Wadi Rum, among many other things.
