UK?s favourite staycations revealed in new research

London, Cornwall and Blackpool are the top three favourite UK staycation destinations, according to a research by Compare The Market.

As one of the most historically and culturally significant cities in the world, London truly has something for everyone, so it?s little wonder that it proved to be the most popular staycation with 40,030 searched destination among Brits.

For a relaxing beach staycation this summer, Cornwall is the place, which came in second place, with 32,800 monthly searches, followed by a classic British holiday destination, Blackpool, with 31,450 searches.

Different countries of the UK still have different travel restrictions in place. The UK?s overall top 10 favourite staycation destinations are London, Cornwall, Blackpool, York, Edinburgh, Lake District, Manchester, Bournemouth, Isle of Wight and Brighton.

Patrick Ikhena, head of travel at comparethemarket.com, said: ?With the pandemic not yet fully in the rear-view mirror, many Brits are understandably wary of travelling abroad for their annual summer holiday. Much of the country is keen to take some kind of break as lockdown restrictions ease and the good news is that the UK has lots to offer.?

?Although restrictions have eased, it is still important to check the latest guidance for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and Wales before travelling, as local restrictions can vary. An increasing number of providers are starting to offer ?COVID-19 enhanced cover? and we expect this trend to continue. These types of policy will cover for cancellation if you, or if one of those named on your policy, falls ill with COVID-19 and cannot travel,? Patrick added.
