Travel blogger sings the praises of travel agents

Ana Silva O’Reilly, also known as the travel blogger Mrs O, has launched a new initiative to help the travel industry recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The travel blogger, who has more than 17,000 followers on Instagram, said, "I don't book all of my trips with travel agents, but at times like this, having the extra support has proven invaluable. I have had to cancel a number of stays in light of the pandemic and those which I had booked through a travel agent were able to be cancelled easily with the support of the agent."

"The COVID-19 outbreak and the impact it had on travel has certainly highlighted the advantages of utilising travel agents - not only does your booking come with added security should a trip be cancelled, but also having an expert on hand to deal with all of the cancellations and rescheduling for you makes everything simpler too," she added.

Ms Silva O'Reilly, who owns travel blog Mrs O Around the World, is urging travel bloggers and influencers to pay for their own holidays, hotel stays and other travel experiences once travel resumes, to help the industry recover from the impact of the pandemic. She said that paying her way allows her to keep a perspective on the investment which her readers and audience are putting into their travels – and allows her to differentiate between a work trip and a normal holiday.

She commented that as travel bloggers and influencers are intrinsically linked to the travel industry, ultimately, if the travel industry doesn’t get through the pandemic then travel bloggers will be left with very little to write about.

Mrs O Around the World is encouraging other travel bloggers and influencers to get involved with the movement by sharing the #PayOurWay hashtag across their social channels and posting about the movement on their blogs.
