Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen Announcing the New Route

Teesside International Airport to start daily flight services to Heathrow

Teesside International Airport will be starting a new daily Eastern Airways flight services to Heathrow from September 14.

Fares between Teesside and Heathrow are priced from £54.99, with a baggage allowance of 15kgs.

“Since I took control of the airport last year, to save it from closure, we have announced some brilliant new daily and seasonal routes,” said Mr Houchen. “But whenever I have revealed a new service route, people have asked about a connection to Heathrow. Now I can say, we have flights to one of the most-requested destinations, and it starts next month. Whether people from Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool are looking to travel for business or pleasure, they will now have a range of options for getting to London.”

Roger Hage, general manager commercial & operations for Eastern Airways, commented, “As the UK’s regional airline, the opportunity for Eastern Airways to connect Teesside to London Heathrow is significant in the regions’ economic recovery. Offering an initial daily service helps reaching the capital or getting to the North East, in a little more than an hour. We look forward to restoring such a major air-link, missing for more than a decade now, with our partners at Teesside International Airport and London Heathrow Airport.”

Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye said,  “We are delighted that Eastern Airways will launch a new connection between Teesside and Heathrow for the first time. Heathrow is committed to strengthening our regional connections across the UK with our discount on domestic routes; and we believe this new service will be a springboard for the great businesses in the region. We are looking forward to welcoming the first passengers in September.”

New health and safety measures have also been put in place for the airport, with six simple steps including hand sanitisation points and face masks, which are currently in operation.
