Riviera Travel completes first UK tour season

Almost 2,500 guests travelled on more than 100 group tours during the operator's extended 2021 touring season.

Riviera Travel has completed its first ever UK tour season - with the schedule spanning April to December 2021 after an extension rose to meet guest demand.

The programme, which was initially set to end in October, covered 12 five- or six-day itineraries, with destinations including Devon, Oxford, the Highlands, Somerset, Norfolk, Cornwall, the Lake District and North Yorkshire.

All tours revolved around small group experiences, with up to 25 guests travelling in socially-distanced, full-sized coaches running at a maximum of 50% capacity. Stays were situated centrally to the local area in three- and four-star hotels.

Riviera Travel has launched a follow-up 2022 UK touring programme, which also comprises over 100 group journeys, along with solo options across the previous 12 itineraries. The 2022 schedule will run from March to December with prices from £519 per person.

Joanne Lynn, head of European product at Riviera Travel, said: “Our UK tours have proved a fantastic success and we’re delighted both with guest demand and the overwhelmingly positive feedback. We’re pleased to confirm that 2022 will see the return of the UK itineraries, and we’re already seeing plenty of returning guests as well as people sampling our tours for the first time.

“From the picturesque fishing villages of Cornwall and the coastal roads of Yorkshire, to the enchanting Scottish Highlands and Northern Ireland’s maritime heritage, all of our holidays promise some of the best experiences the UK has to offer.”

Tours for 2022 include 'Scottish Highlands and Skye', departing on May 1, 2022, with six days starting from £979 per person. Guests will explore Dunvegan Castle in Skye, soak in the views around Loch Ness with a scenic cruise, and experience the Fort William to Mallaig train journey. The tour includes accommodation in a three-star hotel with breakfast, daily visits and tours, and an expert tour manager throughout.
