Intrepid debuts Pakistan Women's Expedition

In honour of International Women’s Day 2023, the B-Corp certified travel company is expanding its range of women-only trips, including its first ever Women’s Expedition in Pakistan.

Intrepid’s Women’s Expeditions collection, which was launched in 2018 and features expeditions in Morocco, Nepal, India, and Jordan, is a group of tours led entirely by female leaders that aim to break the barriers for female travellers, while offering an insight into the traditions, daily lives and challenges presented to women around the globe.

Headlining the collection for 2023 is the brand new 12-Day Pakistan Women’s Expedition which will have its first departure on September 17, 2023, from Lahore. From £3,040pp, travellers will have the opportunity to learn what life for Pakistani women is like, from those living in both the vibrant capital of Islamabad and in the remote communities of the Hunza Valley.

Groups will spend time with pioneering women who are working to empower their communities through local projects, including carpet-weaving and cooking classes, and gain experiences of a lifetime as they begin to form deep connections with the local women.

The tour will be led by Aneeqa Ali, founder of the female-led travel company The Mad Hatters, where her personal mission is to empower, engage and connect women to the hidden wonders of Pakistan.

“Even the most adventurous travellers who have been all over the world don’t know much about Pakistan. When travellers want to visit, women in particular want a female tour guide, but if you look at Pakistan’s tourism industry, it’s a world of men,” said Ali.

“I’ve faced these challenges first-hand and thought ‘Why not be the change you want to see in the world?’”

Alongside the Pakistan Expedition, Intrepid is also debuting a Nepal Women’s Expedition for the first time this year. The Expedition collection will feature six trips this year, each one carefully designed to support employment opportunities for women.
