Botswana's Minister for Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Tshekedi Khama, has announced plans to attract direct flights to the destination along with new tourism initiatives.
He said: "The highlight for Botswana in 2014 was the listing of the Okavango Delta as the 1,000th UNESCO World Heritage Site. We are also proud to announce that there have been consistent bookings and visits to our game reserves, hotels and lodges, and that demand remains high.
"For next year we expect to see new initiatives in the tourism sector and different models that cater for a wider selection of visitors. This will include the opening of other areas for tourism and continued improvement of service delivery. We also hope to have direct flights into Botswana and to see the upgrading of our terminal buildings."
