New research from www.sunshine.co.uk has revealed that more than a quarter of Brits actively choose to exercise whilst on holiday and swimming is the number one choice of holiday workout.
Some 1,862 UK adults took part in the survey, each of whom had been abroad on holiday in the past 12 months.
When asked, ‘Did you actively choose to exercise on your last holiday abroad?’ 26% answered ‘yes’. These same respondents were asked if they normally exercised whilst at home, to which the majority, 62%, said ‘no’. When all were asked why they had exercised on holiday, the answers were as follows:
Good fitness facilities at accommodation (55%),
To balance out excessive holiday eating (39%),
To keep fit (21%) and Helped me to relax (16).
The company asked those who said they’d exercised on their last holiday abroad which kinds of fitness activities they had chosen to take part in. The most popular holiday exercise activities were swimming, followed by running on the beach, the gym, an exercise class and yoga.
