When it comes to priorities, a holiday comes top of the list for many Brits – even beating a bigger pay packet, according to a survey by ebookers.com.

The research, which polled 2,000 British adults delves into how, when and why Brits are booking their holidays and reveals that more than a third (39%) long for them above a higher salary (25%) or a new car (12%).

The research also uncovered that most people feel the need for an impromptu break due to work (29%) as opposed to escaping for a nicer climate (23%) or even visiting friends (8%).

Nearly a quarter of holidaymakers, often looking to escape their busy work life and quickly, have arrived at their destination without having any accommodation booked (24%), with men (26%) being the more likely to do this than women (21%).
