We?re an optimistic nation, according to cottages4you, with holiday bookings for next summer already showing the most popular trends, and many families deciding to secure their 2014 holiday in advance with coastal destinations proving the most popular.

According to the company's booking trends, the key areas include the traditionally popular seaside resorts of Newquay, Totnes and Padstow, but new additions include the Norfolk villages of Happisburgh and Brundall.

The company's managing director, Nick Rudge, said: ?Many of us took advantage of the great weather this summer by booking a last minute break, but it seems the prolonged sunshine has encouraged more of us to secure next year?s holiday much earlier than in previous years.

?In addition to having something to look forward to, booking early guarantees the property and location you want. We?ll be watching the top destinations with interest to see what will be the most popular place to holiday in 2014.?
