Castle Loket Czech Republic Adobestock Marina IgnatovaCzechTourism is seeking to draw more visitors to regions outside of Prague with a "Gateways to Regions" campaign, which focuses on four sectors - cultural tourism, active tourism, spas and medical tourism, and MICE.

"Prague is a wonderful, beautiful city but it's overcrowded," said Katerina Setunska, project manager - trade for CzechTourism. "There are 12 UNESCO sites in Czech Republic, Ostrava has a music festival, we are even looking at industrial heritage tourism with Skoda.

In regard to active tourism, Ms Setunska told Travel Bulletin that Czech Republic offers opportunities in the regions for sports such as cycling, hiking and skiing.

"The single track cycling is good for our millennials target group ...[for hiking] we have a great marking system that is renovated every year so even if you get lost with no mobile phone signal, you can still find your way ... [and] our ski resorts are good for families with children and cross-country skiing," she said.

Spas and medical tourism is another growth area for the country, according to Ms Setunska, with 33 spas in Czech Republic and more health insurance plans now covering medical tourism.

CzechTourism is making plans for fam trips in 2019 and in regard to  training, online sessions are available for UK agents at www.czechrepublictraining.co.uk
