The Visit Brazil Travel Association (VBRATA) has launched a new online brochure, online training for travel agents and has announced the state of Minas Gerais as Destination of the Year for 2012/13.

With the next world cup taking place in Brazil in 2014 and the Olympics in 2016, VBRATA is committed to ensuring UK travel agents have the information, tools and expertise to sell the destination confidently with additional sales opportunities and options to explore regions outside of Rio de Janeiro and other main tourist haunts. Using the VBRATA Website and training on the Online Travel Training platform, modules are already completed for Brazil, and the states of Pernambuco and Minas Gerais.

Minas Gerais, located in the south east of the country, offers a mix of culture, gastronomy, ecotourism and offers no less than 60% of Brazil’s national heritage, including three cities classified UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Ouro Preto, Diamantina and Congonhas.

Partnership Executive, Chris Fuzinatto, commented: “Brazil has a once in a lifetime opportunity to maximise tourism in the lead up to, during and after the forthcoming World Cup and Olympics. We recognise the value that travel agents can bring and are keen to work with them to ensure they are aware of breadth and diversity of sales opportunities in our country. Working jointly with our tour operator, airline and other partners we are entering an exciting era for VBRATA, Brazil and the travel trade in the UK who want to work with us.”
