Winter is coming: Preparations underway at Efteling

With winter being one of the most popular periods for its visitors, Efteling is preparing for its annual winter experience.

Winter Efteling will open from November 14 and run until January 31, 2017.

Visitors can expect a variety of live entertainment and seasonal activities such as cross country skiing, ice skating and a real snow slide. The theme park in the South of Holland will feature thousands of lights, bonfires, real snow and music with roller coasters and rides remaining open, subject to weather conditions.

The stunt filled Raveleijn park show will also continue throughout the winter season. Aquanura, Europe?s largest water show, has been noted as particularly popular with the darker evenings enhancing the show?s fire and lights.

Traditional Dutch food can be found around the park and restaurants will remain open for visitors after the park has closed. The festive Dutch liqueur, Schrobb?ler, is available in the IJspaleis, as well as mulled wine and hot chocolate.

Visitors can opt to stay in the Efteling Hotel, with a choice of basic rooms or themed fairytale rooms. Hotel stays include early entry park tickets and buffet breakfast. Those staying in the nearby Bosrijk holiday village can choose from lakeside, woodland or village houses, as well as apartments. Early entry park tickets are also included and both accommodation options are within walking distance to the park.

Prices start from ?468 for a two-night stay for two adults and two children at the Efteling Hotel, with breakfast and three-day early entry park tickets.

British Airways Holidays has also partnered with the themepark and offer a package including flights and accommodation with breakfast and unlimited theme park entry. Packages are also available with DFDS Seaways, Stena Line and P&O.
