Disney Cruise Lines has announced that its first ever British Isles cruise will call at Guernsey, visiting St Peter Port on June 16, 2016.
The stop will be the final call on the 12-night voyage which will first visit Newcastle, Liverpool, Dublin, Kirkwall, Invergordon and Greenock in Scotland.
The 2,700 passenger Disney Magic will arrive at approximately 08:15am and set sail back to Dover at around 16:30 allowing a full day for exploring the capital but also potentially further afield.
Among the local highlights for visitors coming to shore are Castle Cornet, the fortifications and museums of the German Occupation, and Hauteville House, home to Victor Hugo where he lived while in exile in Guernsey.
Mike Hopkins, director of marketing & tourism said: “Cruise line business contributes a healthy percentage to our visitor numbers and tourism economy and is increasing annually. We are delighted that Disney Cruise Lines has decided to visit St Peter Port and we look forward to welcoming their passengers on shore in June 2016.”
Guernsey’s cruise market is growing rapidly with a 74% increase in cruises visiting the island over a four year period from 2012 to 2015.
