Viking has revealed the details of its new 2019 river cruise programme, featuring destinations across Europe, France, Portugal, Egypt, China and Russia along with an array of itineraries, cultural experiences and enriching excursions.

Customers who book before March 31 can receive a £1,000 discount per person which means a seven-night cruise starts from £1,095 per person inclusive of air travel, shore excursions and entertainment, and wine, beer or soft drinks with lunch and dinner.

Highlights of the company’s river cruise programme include ‘Portugal’s River of Gold’, a ten-day journey exploring Lisbon, Iberia’s oldest university towns, Coimbra in Portugal and Salamanc in Spain, while also encompassing the Douro River Valley, with eight guided tours, and departures from March to December 2019 with prices from £1,345 per person.

Travelling from Moscow to St. Petersburg, the 13-day ‘Waterways of the Tsars’ takes in key sights with experiences designed to immerse guests in the real Russia, such as sharing stories at the kitchen table of an Uglich family or soaking up the steam in a traditional banya in riverside Mandrogy village. With ten guided tours included, departures run from May to October and prices start from £2,795 per person.

Meanwhile ‘Pharaohs & Pyramids’ uncovers the ancient secrets of Egypt. Priced from £5,295 per person and departures ranging from January to December, travelers can see the pyramids from astride a camel, wander amongst the pillars of Karnak Temple, and explore Dendera, one of Egypt's best-preserved and less-frequented temples.
