Tunisia’s Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts have signed a joint agreement setting out the security requirements which all touristic establishments are obliged to put in place.

Following the terrorist attack in Sousse earlier this year, both ministries have been working very closely together, and following the agreement these security requirements will be implemented in collaboration with international specialists including German experts.

The British government has also made an announcement via the British Embassy in Tunisia. It explains that UK company, Aktis Strategy Ltd., is being funded by the British Embassy to establish strategic planning units within the Ministery of Interior in order to support security strategic planning in Tunisia.

This project first started in October 2014 and the staff who will work in these units have now finished a one year training course.

British Ambassador to Tunisia, Hamish Cowell, said: “An important element of co-operation between Tunisia and the United Kingdom is the provision of technical advice, training and coaching and we will continue to provide support to the Ministry in the coming months."
