p>TUI UK & Ireland, which operates holiday brands Thomson and First Choice, has announced the decision to close its Coventry office by December 2015.

It also confirms that it has entered into a consultation process with staff based at the office as it announces proposals regarding the future operating model of its contact centres, which includes the relocation of roles to other UK sites.

The move is part of the company?s long term strategy to become an online driven business. Over the past year, new systems and processes have been introduced to help achieve this, which the company says now means that the business needs to be reshaped and focussed to meet customer needs and to realise the full benefits of these initiatives.

TUI UK & Ireland has been reviewing its property portfolio across the UK and also defining how the business will operate in the future. As a result, TUI UK & Ireland confirms the closure of the Coventry office and proposes changes to the way its customer contact teams operate. If implemented, the majority of the roles based in Coventry would move to the company?s Swansea site. Other customer contact roles would move to the head office in Luton, with the small remainder outsourced to a specialist provider. The majority of the non-customer contact roles based in Coventry would also move to the head office in Luton.

This also means that all the impacted roles are being put at risk of redundancy and the management team will enter a 45 day consultation process on the proposals, starting  October 2, with impacted teams and individuals.
