TrekAmerica has launched its pioneering Trek vs Food tour for next year.

This first-of-its-kind adventure was inspired by the American TV show, Man vs Food. The tour takes in some of the show-stopping restaurants and diners featured on the show so that travellers can indulge in some All-American dishes and experience their own eating challenges.

Departing from New York, the tour takes in 12 states in 10 days and includes eateries ‘as seen on TV’.

Travellers will visit Philadelphia, Washington D.C, Savannah and Atlanta, whilst tasting some of America’s culinary delights.

There are numerous chances to try food challenges and other tour highlights include the nightlife of Washington D.C, historic Charleston and its Antebellum mansions and plantations, live music in America’s southern states and bucket-loads of Deep South charm.

Some of the restaurants visited on the tour that were featured on the show, include:

Tony Luke’s – serving the best Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich in town

Ben’s Chili Bowl – a landmark restaurant amongst Washington D.C’s locals

The Roast Grill – a trip to Raleigh isn’t complete without sampling ‘the best darned hot dogs on the planet’

The Olde Pink House – renowned in Savannah for the best shrimps and grits around

Big Pie in the Sky Pizzeria – 30inch pizza anyone? A favourite with Atlanta’s locals

This is the latest industry-leading innovation from TrekAmerica, which follows the huge success of last year’s Great 48 tour; a unique extravaganza that took in all 48 contiguous states in 80 days.

Hayley Griffiths, senior marketing manager at TrekAmerica, said: “Our aim is to offer young people a choice of unique experiences when booking their next adventure. We know that our customers love America, but they’re equally in love with its diverse and delicious food, so a tour celebrating this was a natural step for us. We think Trek vs Food offers travellers a fun and exciting alternative to the other group tours on the market, and for anyone who enjoys combining a love of food with travel and adventure, it’s a dream come true.”

The tour costs £1,099 per person (£1879 including flights) and includes 9 nights’ accommodation in hostels and hotels, the services of a professional tour leader, equipment and transport by private vehicle, which includes free Wi-Fi!

Hayley continues: “We set the bar high when we launched the Great 48 last year, but we were determined to exceed ourselves this year by creating another first-of-its-kind, totally unique adventure for our customers. Innovation is at the core of what we do and we hope to see Trek vs Food follow on from the success of our other flagship tours.”
