p>Britain?s favourite fantasy cruise has been revealed by piecing together the favourite elements of cruising in a new light-hearted survey commissioned from YouGov by the Passenger Shipping Association.

The top destination of choice was Venice, with nearly one in eight (12%) voting it top of the cruise ports, ahead of New York (9%) and Barcelona (7%). Although it may be a navigational challenge, all these ports should be included, as well as the next favourites of Luxor ( 6%) and Singapore (4%), as the? survey also found that nearly six out of ten cruise goers (59%) think that the ?chance to see lots of destinations and countries? is the most appealing aspect of cruising. To add to the navigational challenges, the ultimate cruise should also be charted to take in the Northern Lights, voted by 57% as the natural phenomenon passengers would most like to view from a cruise ship (beating icebergs, voted for by 11%, and fjords at 9%).

The cruise should also include watching whales from the deck, as one third (33%) cited them as the wildlife they would most like to see from a cruise (ahead of dolphins at 25% and polar bears at 22%) Favourite celebrities to share a cruise with were Jennifer Aniston (8%) or Johnny Depp (6%)....but if neither were available, it would not necessarily ruin the fantasy cruise, as? more than half (53%) would rather take their partner or family friend to share a cabin.

Director of the PSA, Bill Gibbons, said: ?While offering such an ultimate favourite cruise might be just be a tad too much of a challenge for our cruise members, the research does illustrate the amazing value and variety passengers believe modern cruising offers, along with the opportunity to see many destinations on one voyage and observe memorable natural phenomenon and wildlife."
