Super Break puts 2020 North Iceland short break on sale

Super Break has put its 2020 programme of short breaks to North Iceland on sale for agents to promote.

Eleven departures from regional airports around the are now available, featuring the only direct charter flights from the to Akureyri.

The programme, now in its third year, will once again feature a series of three and four night ‘Incredible North Iceland’ short break packages. Charter flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays from February 3, 2020 to March 9, 2020. One departure is featured from each of the following airports:  Isle of Man –February 3; Norwich –February 7; Inverness - February 10; Humberside – February 14; Durham Tees Valley - February 17; Newcastle - February 21; Bournemouth – February 24; Exeter – February 28; Newquay - March 2; Cardiff – March 6 and Jersey – March 9.

In addition, the operator plans to put a self-drive package on sale in the coming weeks for those customers who are more independent and want to explore on their own.

Gary Gillespie, head of trade sales at Super Break, said: “This will be our third year of offering unique short breaks to Akureyri and we’ve focused on regions of the UK where we know agents have the demand.  We will look to add additional departures going forward as the need arises. Akureyri is located just 62km from the Arctic Circle and offers customers the chance to see Iceland’s North coast at its wildest with fjords, glaciers, mountains, volcanoes, bubbling mud pools, lava fields and natural springs. It really is a bucket list trip all with the convenience of flying from local airports direct to the destination”

The operator is also urging agents to use the popularity of Game of Thrones to capture interest and drive sales. Gillespie added: “We all know how TV locations can drive demand as customers want to go and see places for themselves. Our package includes an excursion to Lake Myvatn, which was used for filming locations for North of the Wall. The eighth and final season has just launched so I would encourage agents to use this in their marketing and promotional activity and capitalise on the huge following that this show has.”

Prices lead in at £699 per person for a three-night break and £749 per person for a four-night break from all airports excluding the Isle of Man and Jersey, which both start from £799 per person.

Each short break includes return flights, hotel accommodation, overseas transfers, 20kg of hold baggage, 5kg of hand baggage, a Northern Lights tour and a Lake Myvatn Adventure – Land of Fire and Ice Tour, which includes the chance to see the region’s many magical terrains, the Goddafoss Waterfall, the boiling mud pools of Namafjall.
