Due to demand, Super Break has added four additional charter flights to Akureyi in northern Iceland, bringing the total number of flights now on sale to 12.

Graham Balmforth, national sales manager for the operator, said: “The response to this new product from the trade has been phenomenal. The programme launched just over a month ago on July 19 and agents have really got behind it and have been marketing and selling it incredibly well. Agents in both Scotland and Wales can now promote the direct flights, which is something we were keen to offer plus we have also added a London departure. As with all our departures, these are the only direct flights to northern Iceland from the UK.”

The company has reported that the uptake from agents in the Humberside catchment has been so high that it has added a second date to ensure agents have enough product to sell. The new date also ties in with the Valentine’s weekend for an extra romantic incentive to travel.

The new departure airports available in 2018 include Cardiff on January 12 for three nights; Edinburgh on January 15 for four nights; Stansted on February 19 for four nights; and an additional date has been launched for Humberside scheduled for February 16 for three nights.

Prices from any airport lead in at £699 per person for three nights and £749 per person for four nights. Each short break includes flights, hotel accommodation, overseas transfers, 20kg of baggage, a Northern Lights tour and a Lake Myvatn Adventure – Land of Fire and Ice Tour, which includes the chance to see the region’s terrains, the Goddafoss Waterfall, the boiling mud pools of Namafjall and a stop at Vogafjos working farm.

In addition, optional experiences can be added such as a lava walk, beer spa, Icelandic horse riding or whale watching with the regions resident humpback whales and dolphins.
