The latest digital marketing campaign from the Spanish tourism board is encouraging visitors to post short videos of themselves falling in love with the destination.

The campaign is based around a recent study published by Luis Rojas-Marcos, which suggests it’s possible to fall in love just by staring at someone for a few seconds, and goes a step further by asking whether the same theory can apply to a whole country.

Now, a host of Spanish personalities - including Masters champion Sergio Garcia, actress Elsa Pataky and two-time Formula-1 world champion Fernando Alonso - have shared their personal view of what they love about their home country, based on their personal experiences and preferred destinations.

The British have long had a love affair with Spain. Latest numbers show that in recent years 17.8 million Britons visited the destination, a rise of more than 12%, drawn by the warm weather, coastal scenery, sun-dipped countryside and unique cuisine. Through the summer, the country explodes in a riot of fiestas, while Madrid and Barcelona make for alluring city-break destinations at any time of year.
