The stage adaptation of Roddy Doyle’s hit novel, The Commitments is heading to The Palace Theatre in London’s West End this autumn and Superbreak has launched packages that combine overnight accommodation and tickets.
The show previews from September 21 with its official opening on October 8 and follows the story of Jimmy Rabbitte as he strives to form and manage the world’s greatest band. But unlike his idols, such as James Brown and Aretha Franklin, Jimmy and the unemployed young people he recruits, are all white. They find their sound and some success, but as they start to get a name for themselves, they combust. Hit tracks in the show include ‘Mustang Sally’, ‘Try a Little Tenderness’ and ‘I Can’t Stand the Rain’.
Packages in October start from £95 per person including one night at the three-star President Hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis and a top priced ticket to the show.
