Serena Hotels and Lodges has made Kenya more accessible and affordable for families with the introduction of a new offer, where two children under the age of 12 can stay free when sharing with their parents during the UK half-term holidays in May and October.

The “bush and beach” package twins the recently refurbished Mara Serena Safari Lodge with the company's popular Serena Beach Resort and Spa, located on Shanzu beach on Kenya’s Swahili coast.

Families will enjoy an authentic taste of the local culture as Mara Serena resembles a traditional Maasai Manyatta (cluster of domed huts encircled by a Boma of brushwood) while Serena Beach echoes a 13th century Swahili town with its winding pathways and colourful markets. Both properties welcome children and Serena Beach in particular has a wide range of facilities and activities on offer to suit all ages, with youngsters encouraged to learn about local culture and nature during their stay.

A one week safari and beach holiday for a family of four costs from £7,050 in May and October half-terms, saving £1,340 per family, travelling with Rainbow Tours.

It includes flights from Heathrow to Nairobi and Mombasa, or from regional airports via Amsterdam, all prepaid taxes, road transfers, flights in the Masai Mara, three nights at the newly refurbished Mara Serena Safari Lodge with all meals, twice-daily game drives, National Park fees, airstrip transfers and a breakfast at the hippo pool, three nights on Shanzu beach at Serena Beach Resort and Spa with dinner and breakfast.

Families can also visit in the August school holidays, taking advantage of the “two children stay free when sharing” offer combining Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge with Serena Beach Resort and Spa.
