Premier launches travel by sea campaign with Condor Ferries

Premier Holidays has joined with Condor Ferries to launch a dedicated travel by sea campaign to the Channel Islands after seeing an increase in bookings.

The operator’s sales to Jersey by sea from Poole have risen by 11% so far year-on-year, and sea travel in August to both Jersey and Guernsey are 40% up compared to last year.

The operator is encouraging agents to push weekday travel by sea with clients taking their own car, as this offers the best value and is also highlighting other key benefits of sea travel. Several sea packages to the Channel Islands have been rolled out to help agents sell it.

Deals for sea travel with a car include seven nights half-board at the Norfolk in Jersey from £535 per person, four nights at Jersey’s Merton hotel with free half-board from £465, and four nights in Guernsey at La Villette from £375. The packages are for travel in July, August and September.

Beverley Scarr, short haul general manager for the company, said: “We have noticed some key trends in the sea travel sector this year. In particular, more families are looking to visit the Channel Islands by sea in the school holidays, which has contributed to our increase in sales. We are promoting the benefits of sea travel which include unlimited luggage – enough space to pack wetsuits, boogie boards and picnic hampers - and clients can even take the family dog.”
