On The Go Tours has launched three newly curated tours in Myanmar designed to appeal to travellers seeking an adventure off the beaten path.

Opening its doors to tourism in 2012, Myanmar is still largely undiscovered and, with tours ranging from five to 14 days, the operator is offering visitors the chance to explore the sights in a ‘Yangon City Stay’ or enjoy the best of both worlds in ‘Best of Myanmar & Beach’.

Departure dates range throughout 2016 and 2017 and each tour starts and ends in the vibrant city of Yangon.

As an example the eight-day ‘Meet Me in Myanmar’ takes explorers through Myanmar’s key cultural delights. The tour begins in Yangon and continues onto Mandalay for a boat trip to Mingun, home to what was intended to be the world’s largest pagoda. Travellers will then visit the ancient city of Amarapura and the Mahagandayon Monastery before heading back to Mandalay to visit the Mahamuni Pagoda, featuring a13ft. tall bronze Buddha believed to be more than 2,000 years old.

The tour continues with a cruise along the Irrawaddy River before arriving into Bagan where visitors spend the day exploring the plains, home to more 2,000 temples and pagodas dating back some 800 years.

Priced from £1,045 per person this includes seven nights in three- to four-star hotels and seven breakfasts, guided sightseeing in Yangon, Mandalay, Amarapura, Inwa and Bagan and a private sunset boat trip on the Irrawaddy River in Bagan. One way economy class flights from Yangon to Mandalay and Bagan to Yangon are included, as well as airport arrival and departure transfers on days one and eight.
