Wendy Wu Tours has introduced new escorted tours that incorporate travel by train across Asia.
As examples, a 13-day Vietnam by Rail option travels the entire length of the country, partly by rail and partly by road, starting in Hanoi in the north and following the east coast down to Saigon.
Along the way, passengers will explore the UNESCO site of Halong Bay on a Junk Boat, visit a Hindu temple site in South East Asia, My Son, and cruise along the Mekong River. The itinerary includes travel on Vietnam’s overnight Reunification Express from Hanoi to Danang, arriving in Saigon by train from the coastal resort of Nha Trang.
Prices lead in at £2,690 for departures between July 1-15 and August 11-31.
A seven-day China Express private tour travels from modern to ancient China on the Bullet Train. After exploring the cosmopolitan city of Shanghai, the train transports passengers to Beijing, travelling at up to 200 miles per hour and completing the 800-mile journey in less than five hours. The last few days of the tour are spent in Beijing to take in the Forbidden City and Great Wall of China.
Prices start from £1,890 for departures between November 1 and December 9.
Meanwhile, an 11-day China By Rail option provides a comprehensive look at the iconic highlights of ancient China by train, from the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors to Shanghai and Hong Kong. Prices are from £2,390 for departures between November 1 and December 9.
All private tour prices include flights and taxes, transport, accommodation, selected meals, touring with local guides, entrance fees and visa fees.
