Holiday park BIG4 Cairns Crystal Cascades, located close to the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest, has launched new low-impact, solar-powered accommodation as part of a strategy to create a tourism eco-hub in the region.

Home to the Great Barrier Reef and the ancient rainforest, the park offers its new two-bedroom Eco villas from £120 ($180 AUD) per night.  Guests will stay in the villas running entirely from solar power and also offer quirky eco-technology facilities such as Australia’s first human-powered iPhone charger.  Activities available for guests include bushwalking, bird watching and bike rides to the park’s freshwater creek and the Crystal Cascades Waterfalls.
