Following a £1.8million year-long renovation, the Algonquin Resort in Canada's New Brunswick is open for business in time for the building’s 125th anniversary.

Located in St Andrews-by-the-Sea, the 234-room Tudor-style property is the first Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel in Canada.

Built in 1889, restoration work has been carried out on the castle-like façade and new additions include balcony suites, an indoor pool, outdoor hot tubs and outdoor pavilion and a revitalised clubhouse.

Rooms start from £138 per night on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
