Passengers at Manchester Airport will benefit from improvements to airport security after a £12million investment in new high-speed passenger luggage screening x-ray technology developed by Rapiscan Systems. Installation of the new RTT machines is expected to begin in spring next year with the project completed by autumn. RTT is designed to generate high-resolution 3-D X-ray images of passenger baggage at faster speeds and greater reliability, with the aim of improving detection of potential threats to aviation security, reducing delays in baggage handling, increasing the efficiency of airport operations and improving the overall experience of airport customers.
