Khajuraho Madhya Pradesh Dmitry Rukhlenko AdobeStockNext month, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board will be hosting Adventure Next, in conjunction with the US-based Adventure Travel Trade Association.

This event, which runs from December 3-5 will promote the opportunities for adventure tourism in the area to an international audience of travel professionals.

The event will highlight opportunities for adventure tourism activities, such as mountain biking, hiking, parasailing, water sports and safaris, alongside the cultural, widlife and historic attractions, such as three UNESCO world heritage sites and the highest density of tigers in India.

In terms of promoting the Indian state, known as the "tiger state" to the UK market, the tourism board is  using a variety of methods, including public relations activities through the media, email communication and direct contact by telephone. Two fam trips are planned for 2019, one in February and one in October.

For training agents to sell the destination, webinars are held regularly. The board is keen to highlight how accessible the state is, with 40-minute domestic flights from either Delhi or Mumbai, as well as rail and road links.
