The Sun Festival at Abu Simbel is held twice a year to mark the birthday and coronation of King Ramses II. The highlight of the festival is the moment the rising sun?s rays enter the complex and light up the statue of Ramses II, and four of the Sun God?s seated beside him. The fifth statue, the god of darkness, remains in the dark. The temple is angled in such a way that this only happens on two occasions in February and October.
The operator is featuring a five-night cruise and two-night night stay in Aswan, departing from Heathrow on October 18 for ?1,799 per person for the Sun Festival, which takes place on October 22.
The New Year?s Eve package is a four-night cruise and three-night Aswan city stay and departs from Heathrow on December 28. Prices lead in at ?2,249 per person and both packages include flights from Heathrow, transfers, breakfast accommodation at the Movenpick Aswan Resort and Lake Nasser cruise on a full board basis.
