Just You has announced its largest investment to support the travel trade with the launch of 200 joint marketing events to promote solo travel.

The operator is teaming up with the trade to host a series of joint events to help sell the single travel experience, currently the fastest growing type of holiday.

Colin Wilson, group sales director for the operator, said: “Following on from what was highlighted at ABTA’s recent Travel Convention, single travel continues to grow in popularity at an exponential rate. We have run similar events in the past and they have proven to be a huge success for agents, with many taking bookings for solo travel after these experience days.”

According to market intelligence agency Mintel, the singles population has increased by 14% in the past decade. Escorted tours for the single traveller are now one of the fastest growing types of group travel according to the agency, with long-term predictions indicating that the singles population is expected to grow twice as fast as the non-singles population between 2008 and 2033.

Polly Poulton, the operator’s national account manager, added: “Our joint marketing events will help us explain to agents and customers just how much fun going on a single traveller adventure can be. When planning to go on a solo holiday it can all seem very daunting for customers, we will help to dispel the myths, such as customers thinking they will have to pay a single supplement, loneliness or lack of choice.”
