and Jet2holidays have marked a major step on their ongoing expansion with the launch of flights and holidays from Stansted Airport, their ninth UK airport base and the first in the South of England.

A total of 21 European leisure destinations are now on sale including Lanzarote, Malaga, Alicante, Dubrovnik, Faro, Madeira, Fuerteventura, Girona, Crete (Heraklion), Ibiza, Kos, Larnaca, Gran Canaria, Menorca, Paphos, Mallorca, Pula, Reus, Rhodes, Tenerife and Zante.

The launch of two weekly flights to Madeira makes the route exclusive to the companies from the airport and, following the launch, Jet2holidays has expanded its trade team with the appointment of a sales executive dedicated to Stansted Airport.

Agents in the airport's catchment area will now be able to provide value package holidays across thousands of two- to five-star hotels, along with flights, 22kg baggage allowance and airport transfers included, through a £60 per person deposit. Offering full ATOL protection, the operator includes free infant places on all holidays and 24-hour in-resort service.

A total of 83 weekly flights will operate through, which includes daily services to popular hotspots Alicante, Faro, Ibiza, Malaga and Mallorca, and means that more than 800,000 seats will be available from spring 2017.

To mark the launch, 50,000 seats have been released for £30. The first flights from Stansted will take off on Thursday March 30, 2017 to Alicante, Faro, Mallorca and Lanzarote.

Alan Cross, the operator's head of trade, said: “This is a real milestone for Jet2holidays as it marks the day we bring our family-friendly formula to travel agency partners in the south of England. Our agency partners are integral to the ongoing growth and success of our business, accounting for a third of sales, so agents should expect the highest level of support from our dedicated team. We are already experiencing great feedback and a very positive response to our proposition, which is incredibly exciting."
