The Intrepid Group says it will increase its sales support for travel agents next year, with a larger team of business development managers who will cross-sell the group’s adventure tour brands, visit agents more often, and offer more agent discounts and incentives.
Formed in October 2013, the Intrepid Group has brought Intrepid Travel, The Adventure Company, Peregrine Adventures, Geckos Adventures and Adventure Tours Australia under combined management.
Spencer Neal, formerly sales & operations manager for Peregrine and Geckos, is now Intrepid Group head of industry sales (UK, Ireland and Nordic) and will oversee an expanded team of six business development managers, including newly-appointed Andrew Turner, plus an industry sales team of six. Daniel Pawlyn takes on a new role as head of business development for the Intrepid Group.
The business development team will be able to offer agents training, incentives and support across multiple adventure travel brands that suit a wide range of customers, including younger travellers (Geckos), families (The Adventure Company) and those seeking an adventure with a higher level of comfort (Peregrine).
For the first time, agents will also be able to earn commission on the full value of Geckos and Peregrines tours, including internal flights which were not previously commissionable.
Also for the first time, Intrepid Travel is offering agents access to discounts which will not be matched for direct sales. Agents can currently offer their customers up to 25% off Intrepid’s small group adventure tours in Asia, for bookings made by December 31, 2013 and departing by March 31, 2014.
