The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (MOTCE) for the Republic of Indonesia has launched a new tourism website dedicated to the UK market.

The new site,, is Indonesia’s first official destination site in the UK.

Designed to be a planning tool and source of news, the platform offers a variety of information including detailed island summaries of Bali, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Papua, Nusa Tenggara, Java and Kalimantan. Each destination page showcases things to see and do, how to get there and practical details of the island’s culture, cuisine and people.

Other online features allow visitors to browse through photos and descriptions of Indonesia’s visitor attractions including Borobudur, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Komodo Island, where the Komodo dragon can be found.

There are also overviews of specialist interests, such as Nature & Ecotourism and Golf & Watersports, together with pages offering useful information on tourist visas and everyday Indonesian-language phrases.

The website launch precedes Garuda Indonesia’s introduction of the UK’s only non-stop direct flights from London to Jakarta on May 29.
