Iceland Express is offering a free stopover in Reykjavik to passengers travelling to New York this summer. The airline’s CEO, Matthias Imsland, said: “Reykjavik has so much to offer visitors so we want to give our passengers the chance to explore the city and spend a night there at no extra cost. “Our route to New York is an extremely exciting step for us and is an opportunity for the UK market to enjoy a low-cost trip to New York. The stopover is an extra bonus, which will allow passengers to see Iceland for themselves and enjoy two dream destinations in one trip.” The airline’s new service launches on June 1 and will operate four times weekly. The free stopover offer is available to all passengers who book a return flight between Europe and the US, starting in either destination. Accommodation is based on two people sharing a room in a Reykjavik hotel and additional nights are available from €65. Bookings must be made a minimum of four weeks in advance of the departure date and are subject to availability. Flights from Gatwick to New York cost from £267, including taxes.
