In response to the recent changes to airline security measures, Holiday Extras along with its insurance partners Allianz Global Assistance and Taurus Insurance Services, has updated its insurance policy to cover items placed in the hold for the flights affected.
The introduction of the extended gadget cover will bring peace of mind to thousands of passengers travelling on selected inbound UK flights from Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tunisia.
Under the new government restrictions, phones, laptops, kindles and tablets that are larger than 16cm long, 9.3cm wide and 1.5cm deep will no longer be allowed in the cabin and shall be required to be checked in as hold baggage.
The company's head of insurance, Paul Paddock, said: “Airline security is integral to the safety of passengers, and it is essential for us to ensure that customers can travel with the peace of mind that their belongings are covered. Subject to the usual policy cover limits we are pleased to be able to extend our cover to to include items that are placed in the hold of aircraft for all flights affected by this change.”
