HNTO London appoints new director

Ildiko Mezo has been appointed as the new director of the UK for the Hungarian National Tourist Office (HNTO), based in the London office and taking over from Endre Kardos who was in the role for three years.

Ms Mezo joins the HNTO from Visit Britain, the British Tourist Authority based in Budapest where she held the role of Manager for Central Europe looking after the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary from 2008 until May 2011, when Visit Britain closed their Budapest operation.

The main focus for the HNTO over the next few years is to promote health and medical tourism, plus the conference and incentive market in Hungary using a mixture of marketing based activities, as well as building relations with the trade.

Ms Mezo said: ?The UK has always been an important market for Hungary both for leisure travellers and those looking for a unique conference destination. The UK remains the third largest market for inbound travellers after Germany and Austria and tourism figures are very positive for the first half of this year with a growth of 9.7 per cent over last year."
