Guernsey-Southampton flight route capacity increases by 250% with new aircraft

Channel Islands based airline, Blue Islands, has significantly increased capacity on its Guernsey-Southampton route with the introduction of a 66 seat ATR 72-500 aircraft. The new aircraft is the first of its kind for the airline and will increase traffic on the route by 250%.

Blue Islands now offers three flights a day on weekdays and two flights a day at the weekend, following the inaugural flight on December 6. The upgraded service has also launched with a new lower fare, starting from ?39 one way.

Southampton airport is just over an hour on the train to central London via London Waterloo and Blue Islands has partnered with South West Trains to offer a discounted ?30 anytime return ticket on this line. Passengers also benefit from fast-track security at Southampton airport and complimentary bacon sandwiches and Champagne bar service.

Managing director of Blue Islands, Rob Veron, said: ?The combination of Flybe abandoning the Gatwick service and the continued growth of our business means it is a perfect time to significantly upgrade our offering from Guernsey to Southampton.
