Great Southern Rail, which operates The Ghan and Indian Pacific, has teamed up with Bridge The World to offer a series of packages showcasing Australia’s beauty and diversity, both on and off the rails.
As examples, a six-day Exceptional Kangaroo Island package starts off with a trip on the Indian Pacific through Sydney’s Blue Mountains and across outback Broken Hill into Adelaide and South Australia, where guests spend three nights exploring the city. The final two days are spent on Kangaroo Island, known as Australia fourth icon, for the chance to see abundant bird life, dolphins, sea lions, kangaroos, koalas, wallabies and penguins. Prices lead in at £1,900 for a Gold Service cabin on the Indian Pacific, two days touring on Kangaroo Island with accommodation, flights from Adelaide and three night’s accommodation in Adelaide.
A five-day Flinders Ranges Adventure offers guests the chance to see the Flinders Ranges, as well as the Katherine Gorge, Alice Springs and Adelaide, whilst travelling on The Ghan from Darwin to Port Augusta, with prices leading in at £2,258 per person. Both prices exclude international flights.
