Grand UK Holidays has introduced six new themed short breaks to its range of escorted tours for next year. The special interest breaks aim to cater for the growing demand for themed and activity holidays among the over-55s age group.

Among the new coach tours is ‘Bowling for Pleasure’ which offers five days’ half-board accommodation at the Nelson Hotel in Great Yarmouth for £259 per person. A short mat bowls coach is on hand to offer tuition, arrange partners and hold friendly knock-out competitions. There are also two sightseeing excursions to Norwich and the Broads.

‘Strictly Come Ballroom Dancing’ is another new addition, with dance leaders offering tips and guidance to customers staying at the County Hotel in Skegness. The four-day tour costs £199 per person and includes excursions to Boston and the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Other new themed tours offer the chance to enjoy nostalgic or historical experiences, such as ‘A Stroll Down Memory Lane’ in Norfolk; ‘Remembering Heroes’ in Northern France and Kent; and ‘Rock n Roll Back the Decades’ in Merseyside and Blackpool.

A five-day ‘Agatha Christie and Murder on the River Dart’ holiday is also being highlighted. Based in Torquay, it offers a tour of sites associated with Christie, a murder mystery quiz and a murder mystery evening and leads in at £279 including half-board accommodation.
