Goa is still exotic and still very affordable according to Platon Loizou, managing director of Jewel in the Crown Holidays.

Loizou said ?There are few exotic and tropical locations in the world that can beat Goa for value. We have been looking at other destinations and they simply do not compare.?

He continued: ?Jewel prices are similar to last year as we are keen for Goa to remain competitive in a world market place. Currently bookings are only slightly down on last year but this month has been encouraging with Christmas and New Year departures in particular picking up nicely.?

?I took stock of cost of living items last month when I was in Goa and it reminded me of why we pioneered packages to Goa 26 years ago, money goes a lot further.The following is what we found ( ?1 = 79 Indian Rupees) 2 Course Meal : ?4.50 for a meal at an average restaurant with starter and a main course.
